This is the first quilt-top I have made by myself. I had it quilted with a long-arm machine. I inherited one of these boy blocks from my grandmother prior to 1968. I made the others. I first started this quilt-top about 1993 but did not have it quilted until Summer of 2013. There are 4 pieces of Bingo print around the center block. I included the bingo print because my grandson liked to play bingo when he was little. It fits a queen size bed with ample over-hang. I made up the design for the diagonal blocks myself. The entire backing is made from the checkered print that also serves as a horizontal strip between block rows. The blocks are 11.5" by 13.5" (finished); the border strips between the blocks are 2.5" (finished). You can add picture-frame borders to your own size depending on how much over-hang you want outside of the pattern blocks. For a double bed, only use 12 boy blocks (3 to each row).
