This is a simplified version of Jinny Beyers free Kashmir pattern http://www.jinnybeyer.com/quilting-with-jinny/free-patterns/detail.cfm?instanceID=C415B9C1-9D0D-3AF3-EC3219560284D710

I did not have the fabrics she called out in the pattern so I decided to see what I could come up with from my existing stash. As I was pulling fabrics to make the red block I thought, this glows just like a firefly at night. Fireflies, also know as lightening bugs, glow in the red-yellow-green spectrum so I decided to select fabrics to represent my vision of fireflies glowing at night. The bi-colored center block is to represent the firefly light blinking on and off.

I discovered that the dimensions in Jinny Beyers pattern are the exact size to piece the block. If you are paper piecing, and the pattern has a nice paper foundation all sized and labeled for you, than your life will be a lot easier if you add 1/4 inch to the widths called out. So where she says cut your strip 1.5" make it 1.75" if you are paper piecing. The dimension is exactly correct if you piece the block.

Be warned there is some serious seam build up in this quilt, no matter which way you press the seams.
