On my 40th birthday I received 40 different things from the people that came to my party, two of my friends gave me 40 squares of material (that is 80 squares all told), a man gave me 40 quarters, another of my friends gave me 40 nickels, and I received 40 buttons from someone else so I used all of those things to make this quilt for myself. with the money, I bought the cream fabric.

I absolutely love this quilt!  And I love the idea of giving/receiving 40 of things you love for your birthday.  My daughter-in-law will be 40 this year and I'm going to use the idea to assemble 40 books, 40 minute massage, 40 whatever else I can think of!  Thanks for the inspiration!
