I have loved everything I see using the selvage edges.
I love this. Just out of curiosity, do you use 1/4 seam on the salvage items.
love it!
Very nice
Very cool!
Great idea
Where can I get the pattern
In response to the 1/4 seam for the salvages, I enlarged the picture, by clicking on it. It appears she sewed an 1/8 seam on top and layered it. No seams to press open. Another thought would be to use vargaited thread to make it more interesting.
In response to the pattern, just trace out one of your oven mits to use as a template and/or buy a cheap one at the dollor store taking it apart to use as a template or just use an old one that you have. (If you trace it out be sure to add extra for the seam allowances.) Don't forget to put the thermal stuff on the inside.
Sorry about the spelling. It is supposed to be dollar store and variegated thread.
Insul~ Bright is the thermal stuff and there web site is below. They do have a free oven mitt pattern on their site.

Hi, everyone -
I haven't been on here for awhile and didn't see your questions. It looks like sdmcc answered your questions, and yes, it is about a 1/8" seam. The pattern just said to stitch close to the woven edge of each selvage as you put it on. I used Insul-Bright for the insulated batting along with one layer of regular cotton batting. I got the pattern from Spring 2010 issue of "Quilts and More" magazine. The idea for variegated thread is a great one!
