I had seen this wall hanging in one of my favorite quilt stores, only it was done in all pastels. I bought the pattern and looked at it for several years. I had never done a 3 D quilt or a scalloped boarder before so I was very nervous about attempting this project. The for what ever reason I decided to be brave and I pictured this done in patriotic fabrics. So I went on a hunt for the fabrics, after finding the three major ones and using up some stash the wall hanging was created. It took me awhile to get up the nerve to actually cut the boarder into the scallops but after finding the right ruler it went pretty quickly. Then of course the binding which I thought would be a challenge but turned out not to be. The quilting however was a little tricky as to not sew down the pinwheels, I did an all over free hand loops and stars on my long arm.
