Sometimes if you listen to your quilt it can take you in unexpected directions. I knew that I wanted to work on some small quilts so I could work on improving my free motion quilting skills. I decided on three patterns by Sara Cibelli. I made the first pattern “Teasel” and it turned out so well that instead of sashing and quilting it and I decided to make the next pattern “Ragged Robin” which also turned out beautifully. I then decided to use EQ to help me design a quilt that would tie together and enhance Sara Cibellis patterns. I experimented with a nine patch layout inspired by the book 9 Patch Pizzaz. Once I found a pleasing layout I added patterns from Mckenna Ryans “Petals of the Heart” series, and colored the design to tie the different applique designs together and to give the impression of morning sunlight reaching outward to awaken wildflowers growing in a forest glen. I quilted this myself.

This is a beautiful quilt! You put a lot of work into the design! Your applique work and quilting is perfect.

Oh, I have that jack-in-the-pulpit pattern.  What a great setting idea!  I hope you won't mind if I "borrow" some of your design.  Very pretty!
