This quilt is entirely machine appliqued and machine quilted.  The asian themed fabric squares were scraps from the quilted Mah Jongg  bags that I make to carry Mah Jongg sets.  The squares were appliqued onto a black cotton background and the red borders and sashing are from a piece of red silk that a friend brought me from China several years.  That is also appliqued to the black background.  This quilt was based on a quilt I saw in the book QUILTING LINE + COLOR by Yoskiko Jinzenji

Beautiful, I love Asian fabrics, and enjoy Mah Hong, although it has been many years since I've played with the tiles.
