This is a prayer quilt that I made for a church member, and friend, who was going through chemo treatments. I'm happy to say she is in remission now! Praise God!
I make prayer quilts for our church ministry. After the quilt is complete, long threads of #5 Pearl cotton are stitched in the center of the blocks and left untied. We present the quilt to the church, saying who the quilt is for and what prayers are needed. After service the quilt is placed on a table and everyone (individually) says a silent prayer for the recipient and ties a knot in the pearl cotton thread. Each knot represents a prayer. Knots can be tied on top of knots, prayers on top of prayers. The recipient is then covered in everyone's prayers. This picture was taken before I stitched the pearl cotton in the center of the blocks.
