Scrappy Prayer Quilt

I've made several prayer quilts in this style. They are lap size and quick to sew and quilt. After the quilt is complete, long threads of number 5 Pearl cotton are stitched in the center of the blocks and left untied. We present the quilt to the church, saying who the quilt is for and what prayers are needed. After service the quilt is placed on a table and everyone (individually) says a silent prayer for the recipient and ties a knot in the pearl cotton thread. Each knot represents a prayer. Knots can be tied on top of knots, prayers on top of prayers. The receipient is then covered in everyone's prayers.

What a wonderful idea! I love the quilt, but then I'm very fond of scrappy!

Very good. I like prayers and scraps so what's not to like about this one.
