This quilt was requested by Indy's trainer. She saw an advertisement of a quilt that she liked, but she didn't like the fabric shown in the ad. She asked me to make the same quilt using fabric that had something to do with fishing. She wanted a Christmas gift that had to do with his favorite hobby...fishing. Oh, did I mention that they have only been married a little over a year? And their first date was a fishing date?

I went straight to e-Quilter. They very seldom let me down and sure enough they had everything I needed. You can't see the back of the quilt, but the fabric looks like it's the lake. I found the center panel of various fishermen and views of different types of fish, the plaids for the borders, the solid border, and the border with the fishing paraphanalia. All fabrics are 100% cotton. The hardest part is looking at a picture and calculating the size of the quilt and the pieces.

For quilting, I made my first attempt at free motion quilting by doing waves in the center panel. Then I roughly outlined the objects in the outside border.

When Indy's trainer picked it up, she fell in love with it and she thought her husband would too...but then they are still newlyweds.
