My first commissioned quilt.
What a challenge this was!
Sylvia, this is really pretty. Tell us something about it.
Thank you Judy.
I had a gentleman that LOVES Texas stuff ask me if I could make him and his wife a Wall hanging of the State of Texas. So I said a few prayers, actually I said alot of prayers and tried to figure out how to use EQ7 and came up with this.
He and his wife like browns and reds so this is what I came up with. I used about 20 fat quarters and about 2-1/2 yards of creamy white for the background. It took 320 - 2-1/2" squares to piece Texas and the background.
Not all my points are pointy but I think it came out pretty good.
Very nice, you did a great job!!!
Amazing and you did it in EQ7. Wow.
Thanks Spudgrandma!
Judy, yes sort of with EQ7. I imported an outline picture of Texas that was supposed to be a coloring page for kids and then tweaked it a little because I couldn't figure out how to do any curves and wasn't sure I wanted to tackle that. I really had problems trying to figure out how to make 1 block. almost drove me crazy, then I printed out the template from EQ7 and finally got it after wasting ALOT of fabric. Thanks for your comments and interest!
It is wonderful. I love the way a quilters mind works! One day I'd like to take your idea and do an Ohio.
I love it! Texas is deeeeeeep in my heart. I know your hard work and was worth wonderful work Sylvia.... can I have the pattern? LOL I have fabric with texans stuff on them like blue bonnents, rodeo, buckles, and oil wells.... it would be awsome!. But I'll understand is I couldn't. CONGRATS!!!
Very nice & such a creative use for simple squares! How did you do the quilting? It looks interesting. Do you have a close up shot of the background quilting?
Thank you everyone for your comments.
Claudia,
I agree with you. The fabrics you have would be awesome. I have a ton of "Deep in the Heart of Texas" Charm Packs and was thinking about making another quilt out of them. I will try to get a pattern together that someone could understand. I made this with graph paper and EQ7 figured out some of the templates. It was alot easier than I thought it would be.
Jennifer,
I will try and get a close up of the background quilting.
Thanks again for all your comments!
