Diamond Head quilt

I made this quilt for a high school friend who has been battling a rare form of cancer for more than 25 years.  The photo shows the front of the quilt, the back of the quilt, and the photo of my friend, Sarah,  that inspired the fabric choices.  The pattern is called Diamond Head by Daniela Stout for Cozy Quilt Designs.  I quilted it on my longarm with a spiral pattern.  I'm not a fan of patterns where I have to make the same block over and over again, so this was a real labor of love!  :-D

Thanks!  The photo was one that someone snapped of her on the way to an 80's party a couple of years ago.  

I started the quilt and had most of it finished before I found the fabric with the What Cancer Cannot Do sayings on it.  I saw those at a longarm quilting convention out in Ohio in September and they just seemed like the final touch that the quilt needed.

Sarah struggles with her cancer everyday, I think, but she is one tough lady and doesn't complain.  She's had over 50 operations in the last 25 years!  I think I would have given up long before this!

Awesome!  I recently made a quilt for someone very sick too.  What better way to let them know they're being thought of when they're wrapped up in a "hug".
