This is a fun way to use a jelly roll to create a nice throw quilt with some interesting texture.  The applique chicken was just for fun.

OH MY!!!!  I LOVE it!  I just made one of these quilts, but didn't think about giving it it's own life!

This quilt is adorable!  I went to a weekend retreat this past summer and the 1600 inches quilt is one that was taught and many participants made one.  I brought it up to one of my block of the month groups and we plan to pick a day and complete one.  I love your addition of the chicken.  It really makes for a fun addition.  I'll have to add something to mine to perk it up.  Thanks for the idea!

This is so cute with the chicken added on. I made a 1600 earlier this year and have yet to get it quilted because I felt it needed something else appliqu├ęd to it to make it come to life. Glad to see I was not alone in my thinking! You've inspired me to pull it out and give it a go again!

I've also seen them done with a large turtle applique (greens and blues) and large coneflowers (pinks and oranges).  They are fun quilts.
