I could not find a memory quilt I liked to purchase for my grandmother, so I decided to modify the White Chocolate pattern.  I have blog post that goes into more detail on this project.  Very forgiving pattern for a confident beginner.

Malissa, this is very cool!  I have a friend looking to do something similar for her grandson.  It will be washed and we are having a hard time finding the right material to copy the photos to that doesn't require special care.  What did you use to copy the photos to?

I used the June Tailor Sew In fabric.  It is water proof.  You do have to "treat" it before you sew it though.  You have to print the pictures on it, then iron them according to the instructions, then you soak them down, pat them dry, and iron them again.  I mad a lap blanket and a couple of pillows using this same fabric printing paper.  I dried one of the pillows and I did not like the way it turned out, so I hung the lap blanket and other pillows to dry after I washed them, and I like that much better.  There are other products out there, but this is the only one I have used and I like it.  The key is making sure not to rush the prep process at the beginning.  Again, it says you can wash and dry, but I did not like the look of it after it was completely dried.
