This project is from "Quiltmaker" (July/August '07) entitled Ribbon Tribute by Bonnie Booy, Grove, Oklahoma. The original pattern shows golden yellow ribbons and a U.S. flag shaped heart in the middle designed by Bonnie around the time the war in Iraw began . Quilt size is approximately 27" x 27".
I chose the alternative photo shown within the article to make my Breast Cancer Ribbon Tribute in light pink, dark pink, a coordinating butterfly motif for the middle of the heart (representing new beginnings) and a very nice black/white/pink ribbon background fabric to accent this wall quilt.
I've lost some very good friends to breast cancer -- I thought about them while making this project and what I can do to bring realization to each lady out there to get that mammogram. I could have very easily been a statistic myself -- I waited almost seven years before my physical. When I found out I had cancer I was desvastated. With the love of a good husband and most importantly God's Grace I've been in remission for five years!
