I made this checkerboard quilt for the family room at Ronald McDonald House in Honolulu. I also stepped outside of the box and made the red heart shaped and the black star shaped checkers. I was able to find non-toxic paints since many of the children are immunocompromised. I also made a pouch on the back that the checkers can be stored in and the quilt folded up to be put away.

I love it. It is cheerful and fun. That is a great cause to help. A family I know needed to use this service when their daughter suddenly stopped breathing (she survived and is fine) and it made a big difference for them because the hospital was a couple hundred miles away from their home.
