I am teaching my very first  free motion quilt class at my local quilt shop in two weeks.  I made this piece to help promote the class!  May also use this for an advanced class in the near future.  I'm very excited!  Wish me luck!

Magnificent, Lori.  Have a blast teaching others such an exciting way to finish their quilts.

Fantastic.  Is this method best used for whole cloth, or does it work well with pieced quilts, too?  I'm always afraid I'll lose the integrity of any pattern already on my fabric.

What a beautiful example.  I think it will be years before I get anywhere close to doing something like that.

Beautiful...I wish I had the patience to do such intricate work.

Thank you so much everyone for your kind words!  I filled my class to beyond capacity and have been asked to do another class as well for as soon as possible as there is a waiting list!!!  I'm a little stunned, but am so excited and can't wait to teach the class.  Hopefully, I can teach my students to have fun with the technique.

@MaggieNae - I would say this will work for both whole cloth and pieced quilts, but with pieced quilts, I would make the quilting larger and more spaced out as you don't want a "stiff" quilt.  I do the more finely detailed quilting on smaller pieces and wall quilts.
