I have made three of these quilts for my granddaughter's Christenings.  They are a basically a strip pieced Rail Fence pattern.  I used four types of white fabric: white on white cotton, dotted swiss type fabric (something with a raised texture), washable satin, and eyelet.  It is tied and not quilted since it is really made for just this special occasion.

Since I also do machine embroidery, I embroidered the lower right square with the child's name and date of Christening.

I really like the way the satin stands out when used as on of the end stripes.

Beautiful!! I will have to start looking at white fabrics for this pattern.  I love doing the rail fence pattern and have a new grand-daughter who will soon need a christening blanket.  A great idea!  Thanks!
