This little hanging started out in my mind as a Sassy Sunbonnet Sue.  Once finished, I realized Pretty Penelope was a name more fitting for her.  I made her for another co-worker after she told me a story about a Sunbonnet Sue quilt of her mother’s that she inherited.  An acquaintance took the quilt without asking, taking one of the items of her mother’s that she treasured so much.  She loved it and said she would treasure it always.  She is such a sweet lady and I hope it brings her some comfort.

Thank you so much for your comments. I had so much fun with this one.  I was almost like playing with paper dolls as a kid, but doing it with cloth.  Oh,the memories of good time with a bunch of little girls giggling going through the Sears & Roebuck catalog with our sissors at the ready :)

Great job and I love the 3D effect with her skirt. Sad someone would do that to your friend. I know she's happy to have you on her side.

I have a sunbonnet sue that my mother completed the top but passed away before quilting it. I finally completed the project and I wouldn't take anything for it. It's priceless. Thank you for the 3D pretty Penelope because I will make one to hang over it. Thank you for sharing
