I wanted something fast and simple for the big sister of one of the baby's that I made a quilt for.  She is a Super Little Mermaid fan and I had a couple of small pieces of 'Little Mermaid' fabric in my stash, so I used this to make her a tote bag with inside pockets to hold crayons and a small colouring book.

i bought 2 pieces of different 'Little Mermaid' fabric and just sandwiched them together with some batting in between.  I free motion stitched the layers together in a wavy pattern and bound it with some purple fabric to match one of the colours in the quilt.

Her eyes nearly popped out of her head when she took the quilt out of the bag.  It just happens that purple is her favourite colour too, so the binding colour was a good choice too.  When I left her house, she was dragging the quilt around with her.  It sure makes your day when someone really appreciates what you have made for them.

So thoughtful of you to make a quilt for the sister of the baby too. And a tote for her goodies! Sweet.
