This is the first in a series of Women in Fabric Art Wall Hangings. I used scraps of fabrics I had on hand. Inspired by the artist Botero and a children's book, I wanted to exaggerate the features, and use ambiguous skin tones. This one first place at the L.A. County Fair!
This fabric
wallhanging is made using 100% cotton fabric, fusible bond, beads, metallic
thread and a variety of misc scraps of fabric. It's about
22"X30" and is machine quilted. After it is quilted,
embroidered and beaded the back of the piece is wrapped in a beautiful
contrasting fabric, bringing the edges to the front to make a neat border and
finish off the piece so all the loose threads are hidden. As with all of my wall art, I have patterns available, either free or low price, you can email me for the pdf. ~Tovadiandean.com
