A friend of mine at work contacted me the other day.  She said that her daughter who was away at college called her and told her of a mishap she had.  She had a little fire in her apartment caused by a candle.  Two things caught on fire.... a Florida Seminole Snuggie and her precious baby blanket.  She had thrown both blankets into the bath tub and turned on the shower to put out the flames....there was not much left of the Snuggie....but the baby blanket was a little more salvageable.  She brought home the pieces to her mom..... who in turn contacted me.  It was a pitiful sight..... Her mother cut off all of the burnt area and what was left was not much....  She asked if if could use the pieces to make a new blanket....I took the challenge.  The blanket was made of  a cotton fabric on the front and flannel on the I took the pieces and cut it up into 3 inch squares....pieced them together into a bunch of 4 patches....and just added a few borders.......

What I ended up with was a quilt about the same size as the original blanket.....I brought it bake to her mom...... who just loved it..... her daughter had told her she was having a hard time sleeping without her precious soft blankie....Her mom is going to send it to her for valentine's day.........................
