circles and more circles; sewn together & then cut into quarters and rejoined to give that scappy look. It becomes 'fluffy' since the edges aren't sewn down; the seams are sewn 1/4 inch in from each edge. Great quilt for beginners or anybody. Great fun to use up pieces of mat'l.
