First of the completed rings up on the design wall!
This is going to be a beautiful quilt! I'm new at quilting and certainly have not undertaken anything as intricate as this. After you complete your rings then what do you do, applique then onto your background fabric? Do you applique by hand or machine?
Linda
Thank you for your lovely comment Linda. The rings are all connected to one another, almost in rows as a block quilt would be. I used the John Flynn method along with the support from Thea who is an instructor on this website. I had been absent from sewing for many years and kicked myself in the butt for taking on one of the "once in a lifetime quilts" while in the middle of the project. Now that it is done I am glad that I was able to stick with it and relearn many of the quilting basics. What are you working on?
I have never heard of the "John Flynn" method. What exactly is that?
Hi Margie, John Flynn is a fiber artist who developed a method of creating angles in the arcs of the rings to ensure perfect easing into the melon or centers of the arcs. He also makes a portable quilt rack for hand quilting. He has his own website that will show you all of his quilt templates and patterns.
