My mother showed me a method of doing a simple mariners compass that you do paper piecing for the middle star and freezer paper piecing for the outer star. Not one to leave well enough alone, I had to add my own twist - thus the rooster. I actually started with the chicks border fabric and then went from there, finding a clipart pic online of a rooster and traced it for my appliqued rooster on the quilt.

I'm thinking of creating a pattern and tutorial for it and put it up for sale in my etsy shop but not sure if it would sell. What do you think? thanks for any input - always welcome:)

What have you done to the rooster's feathers to make them look 3-D?

Great job.  That chick border fabric is great.  Rooster applique is wonderful
