Recycled linens for the cottage look

While organizing our old, falling down log cottage I found a pile of sheets and pillow cases that were left over from long, long ago.  They were faded and worn but still had a useful purpose, too good to be thrown out.  After much thought I struck on the idea of making them into crocheted rag rugs for the bedroom.  I've cut them down to 1 inch strips, sewn them end to end and then crocheted them into a rug.  The dogs love to sleep on them and they also feel so nice to put my feet on them first thing in the morning.

Great idea.  I am working on a crocheted rag rug too.

I've cut up some sheet tops (bottoms were too worn) left over when the kids grew up and moved out.  I'm excited to make cottage rugs also, but am going to try the "Aunt Philly's Toothbrush" method.  Good job on yours!

Great idea for "repurposeing".  One of the gals at the LQS uses selvages to make her rag rugs.

I started out thinking about using the selvedge edges, but that would have taken forever to gather enough to complete a rug.  My first rug has selvedge edges in the center.
