I know the double wedding ring is traditionally given as a wedding or anniversary gift but I was itching to try paper piecing. One night I jumped online to try find free patterns for paper piecing and stumbled accross this. I had a honeybun sitting in my stash and it just barely fit but I thought I would give it a try. I did not intend to make a quilt, I just wanted to play around and see how paper piecing was done. Well, I got hooked!!! I made this quilt in 3 or 4 days. I tried so hard to get it done before my grandma came into town last fall so we can hand quilt it. Well we got part of the center hand quilted and then I jabbed the needle under my thumb nail over half way up! I was done - basted it and machine quilted it after that (all over stipple for the center and continuous hearts in the border). I did keep the hand quilting in there as it will be a great story for my girls when they get older. I now know I will not had quilt anything - at least for a very long time. this quilt led me to a life long passion of paper pieceing - I dont think I will ever get sick of it. LOVEEEEEEEE it!!!!! I also put the satin binding on it because my daughters are young and thought they would like the feel of it and because I still have not takeled binding :-)
