This is a small, 16" square, quilted wall hanging, which depicts a typical scene around my home in eastern Tennessee. Some of the tobacco is still in the field, waiting to be harvested; some hangs in the barn, which you can see in the distance on the hill along with the little house. Trees have turned in the higher elevations. I've included a "3-D" picture of a boulder such as you would find around here, as well as a grasses. I used texture magic to make the boulder, which makes it stand out more than just quilting it would have.
Although I love to make traditional pieced quilts, making art quilts is my favorite technique. I like to just start putting an art quilt together to see where it will go. I used the book, "Accidental Landscapes," by Karen Eckmeier, as the inspiration for this quilt.
