This quilt was made for me at the Midwest/Iowa and NW 2011 Retreat by my QCA Friends. Below is my response of thanks to them.

Once in your lifetime, you may be fortunate to be part of a
large group of people that are kind, loving and giving, and think not of their
self first but of others. I am so very
lucky to be part of such a group, QCA.
We have one thing in common, quilting but beyond that we truly care for
one another. We laugh, cry, and share
“life” together.
As many of you now, this has been an especially hard year
for me. I developed some additional
illnesses and thought I would never get through them. I feel I am finally getting back on the
“mend”. Some days are better than
others, but compared to where I was, this is paradise. Although I wasn’t on the board I had QCA
members still supporting me. Many, many
nights I had dreams of dividing my stash to members according to their favorite
colors. I knew then, how much you all
meant to me that if anything happened to me, I wanted you all to have my
stash! Spoken like a true quilt
sister!
Today, I found how blessed I am to be part of QCA because I
received a package in the mail from all my QCA friends that attended the Washington
retreat that I was unable to attend.
I opened it and found the most beautiful “Fall Comes to
Phoenix” quilt with “leaf” blocks made by ladies at the NE retreat. My deepest appreciation and heartfelt thanks
to all of you. Your blocks are absolute
exquisite and I love each one of them. What a labor of love! Nancy from Minnesota did a beautiful job
finishing the quilt and such great quilting on her long arm. I will think of all you when I snuggle under
it! I will treasure it forever.
Thank you for being my forever friends, thank you for being
who you are. Thank you for caring about
someone most of you have never met.
The Lady in Red would say to me, “you sure have some fine
friends, Marlene.” And, I would say to
her, “I sure do, Mom.”
