When a friend's husband passed away with cancer I offered to make her a quilt from his shirts.  Here is the result - and she loves it!  I chose Churn Dash as the pattern.  The fabrics included blue jeans, wedding shirt, and every day shirts - he wore almost exclusively blue so matching was easy.  The back is blocks from the same shirts.  It was a gift for me to make it and a keepsake for a loving wife. It is 42" x 51-1/2".

How absolutely wonderful of you to do this for her. I know she will certainly cherish it. A lot of great memories there for her. You're a great friend and you did a fantastic job.

What a beautiful gift. Like a hug from him every time she wraps it around her.
