This 100% cotton 56 X 65 machine pieced quilt I made has twelve hand embroidered 6" blocks of an Umbrella Doll, set together with sashing and two added floral borders. It was machined Quilted by Debra Ledbetter of Pulaski, TN. I embroidered the blocks while I was laid up in 2002 from Charcot's which is a diabetes complication. I was not allowed on my feet at all for 3 1/2 months. I knew I would be in the cast so I lined up many projects within reach to work on while I was "down". After the cast from the Charcot's was removed, I was diagnosed with Malignant Melanoma on the bottom of my right foot. I had had a brown spot there for 20 years, but I guess the cast "stirred it up" or something and the Melanoma was discovered. I had two surgeries to remove it and Praise the Lord, it has never returned!!
