I saw this quilt being made on Fons and Porter and I just couldn't wait for my magazine to arrive to make it!! It is a paper pieced quilt and is a bit time consuming, but what fun! You cut 2 blocks at the same time and is rotary cutting. You do have to concentrate to keep everything in order. But I loved making this quilt.

This quilt went to my oldest grandson, Christopher. The fabrics I chose are definately bright! The quilt is machine quilted with stars.

this is a great quilt!  When I started quilting, paper piecing was all I would do (after taking a class) because I was afraid of regular piecing (even tho I'd taken a class).  It worked like coloring by the numbers for me and it produced great results.  Penny, come visit your sister-in-law and I'll show you how :)

This is gorgeous!! Do you have the name of pattern? My daughter loves stars, and I think she'd like this one.

MaryAnn in MA: The name is Birthday Stars and comes from Fons and Porter from a few years back. They also did this pattern on their show. That is where I first saw it and then I had to immediately get on the phone to order that particular magazine and of course subscribe to the magazine! I've been a Fons and Porter convert since.

Linda ~ Thank you so much. I just came here to post that sometimes I'm not the brightest bulb in the circuit!! LOL!! After looking at it again, I realized that the pattern name was "Birthday Stars!" I found the pattern in the July/August 2007 issue of Fons & Porter's magazine.  I was able to order it, and it arrived yesterday! I'm happy! I love the colors you used much better than the brights in the mag.

Beautiful!  I would love to do that pattern in patriotic colors.
