I don't sew well AT ALL but I decided I would teach myself to quilt. It is my goal to make at least one quilt for each of my 4 children and 2 "grands". The Rag Quilt patterns that I found seemed forgiving and a good place to start.  This quilt was my first and I had a lot of fun making it-it turned out so well that I was energized to go forward. Now I am addicted.

Quilt is denim, chambray and red gingham with cut-work applique.

You did a good job!  Isn't it amazing how addictive quilting can be?

Hi Margie,

I have purchased the pattern for this quilt and have attempted to make a baby quilt. The pattern calls for 5" x 5" square with the 1/2 " seam allowance included. This is also my first quilt so I decided to use 4 plaids and 4 prints. From what I can figure out the squares will end up being 3" if I allow for 1/2 inch around each square. Could you tell me if this is right or am I not figuring this out properly. I decided not to do the applique.
