new Christmas stockings for some of my family members.  My daughter, Liz, who loves to travel and is a park ranger....granddaughter Aurora, who loves horses....son Jeff, a golfer who flies a lot and loves "fine dining" (hence the wine bottle and pasta buttons)  Lots of fun to make!  The letters are paper pieced from Sew Precise 3.  The horse and golf patterns are free online, but I had to shrink them down to 3.5 inches.

Great stockings!  Congratulations on getting a head start on the holiday season, but I'm not sure I'm ready to think about that yet...

Great stockings and I love how you personalized them.

I really like these stocking, especially the middle one because it has my name on it.  You did a great job.  I have not been brave enough to make one yet.  I want to make them for my grandchildren.  Where do you find these kinds of patterns?

Thanks, Aurora! (I like your name--my Aurora turns 3 on Sat.)  I wanted stockings for my family, but big enough for Santa to have a grand time (I love Christmas!!!)   I made my own pattern, cutting the stocking shape the size I wanted) and have used it multiple times over the years as our family has grown.  Half square triangles, then the small patterns to individualize the stockings are paper pieced.  The trees and star are from Sew Precise or Foundation factory (I have both) as are the letters.  Printed to the size I want!  The horse & golf club/ball I found online, printed, then took them to the library's copying machine and shrank them to the right size.  Buttons and charms for embellishment are a fun part.  The Liz stocking now has a camera charm and several others that show her love of travel--also a button with a bagpipe on it (she plays bagpipes!) and a button that says, "Not all who wander are lost."   There is a princess crown on Aurora's now (she loves Disney princesses, and with a name like Aurora, it's no wonder!)   I really have a good time with the stockings.  Give it a try!

That wouldn't be BLUE I see there would it?  This are cute and big enough to hold lots of goodies.
