This is the first big quilt that I free motion quilted on my home sewing machine. It was a lot of work, but I enjoyed it.
Very nice work and I like the color combo.
It's beautiful. I love the colors too. I am working on my first lap size quilt and so I am very encouraged by yours done on a home sewing machine! Did you mark your pattern before stitching or just go for it free style? How long did it take the cat to bless it :)
You did a beautiful job :)
Thank you! I practiced the free style pattern on paper alot before I practiced on leftover fabric. Then I just put the quilt up to the machine and said here goes! It looks a lot better from a distance than it does up close...
oh, and Buddy the cat had to inspect it as soon as it was put on the bed.
You inspire me to try it. Do you have an extra large throat on your sewing machine? How did you handle the bulk? Did you roll it and hold it with clips? I guess that's the part that scares me. It is beautiful.
I have a regular size Janome. My husband made a sewing table for me that has a recess in it for my machine to set in, so the sewing area is flat, and it has lots of room behind and to the side that the quilt can rest on. There isn't enough room in the throat of the machine to move a rolled quilt, so I just bunch and scrunch it while keeping a small area flat around the needle. I also bought Batt Scooters from www.battsintheattic.com that I use instead of gloves or rubber fingertips. They work great for me and they leave my fingers free for grabbing the seam ripper when I need to....
Very pretty, you should be proud!!!Love your kitty! My kitties love all the quilts I make!!!
It looks like a lot of hard work but so rewarding. It is a very beautiful quilt
Very pretty -- and so is the cat!
Very pretty Mary. Glad to see that it is kitty cat tested and approved.
