Blocks pieced by my mom before she died.  Blocks put together by my sweet MIL, Meems.  Borders and Machine quilting done by me  - all for my wonderful daughter who starts Sophomore year of college in 2 weeks.

Beautiful.  Love the red border.  Your daughter should be proud of this family heirloom.

That's really cool and very memorable.  That should bring lots of comfort to your daughter while away at school.

Very nice!  How wonderful of MIL to put the blocks together for you.  A wonderful memory for you daughter to snuggle under.

Thank you all.  She loves this quilt - already using it!  There were a couple of extra blocks - so those became matching pillows.

Denise - thanks for the vote on the red border!  I struggled with taking the quilt in a different direction than what my mom had intended but I think she's smiling over it now.  I love the red too and I think there may be a red quilt in my future - if I ever get through my mom's UFO's! :)
