I love your Tree of Jesse, but can't quite see the techniques.  Are you doing tiny turned under applique and machine stitched or raw edge?  Are you using bias binding for the dark lead?  It is truly a work of art!

Judith, it is a techniques that I kinda made up. The applique is made up in the machine embroidery hoop from a design  that I digitized First a guide line stitched in placed then fabric placed on top and stitched again, trim fabric--at this point it looks very bland. Applique all the pieces first. Then put the black embroidery design over the appliqued pieces--all the black lines are  thread no bias tape. I hope I have explained this this so you can try it, if you have any questions, I would be more than happy to try to answer them.
