I had bought the panels and didn't know what to do with them. A friend on line had done something like it and I thought, I've got the panels, and some strips and wala!

Very nice.  Will you be giving it to your son when he gets out of boot camp?

Marge, My 2 sons are already out of bootcamp and are serving currently. One son is in Afghanistan and the other is Stateside.

I will probably donate this in their honor to a local Charity.

wow, I like it.  I have a lot of respect for family members of those serving in the armed forces.  I hope that your boys are safe and sound.

Cathy, since it is a wonderful Marine quilt, why not donate it to Quilts of Valor... http://qovf.org/   A wonderful organization that our guild supports.

absolutely gorgeous quilt...I made one in red white and blue using the strip method of sewing a jelly roll (all strips) end to end with mitered seam and then sewing down one side, cut fold and repeat 4 more times....my other half won't let go of it...says it is his and I can't sell it...(he spent 16 years regular Army and another 8 in the National Guard

I m lovin this quilt! I had the hardest time doing my first 'scrappy' quilt...it felt impossible!  But now I pretty much stick with them because they turn out so beautiful and cost effective for donations too!  I"m working on an airforce QOV for a Korean Vet at the moment....had to dig in the scraps, but I"m putting this one on my list of to do! ;)
