In January 2011 my hubby and I decided (rather I had the brainy idea) to purchase two Shih Tzu puppies.  How much fun they would be and they could keep us company in our Studio as he played his guitar and I quilted (WHAT WORLD WAS I IN?)  We were wintering in Arizona when I made that decision and I had entered quilts in the Tucson Show.  While shopping at the Show, I came across the most precious fabric for dogs and just had to have it to welcome the new "babies" into the family..... We arrived back in Texas at the end of January and I started on the quilt.  Then on  21 Feb 2011 we picked up the puppies and within 20 days they were returned to the Breeder... Wrong Breeder.  The puppies had numerous problems - we were blessed to get our money back.

You can tell now why the name of the quilt is "Doggie Gone"... The quilt has a new home in New Zeland with my best friend's daughter.

What an adorable quilt... the colors are so rich!  I just love it.  My home is graced with a shih tzu, a mini schnauser, and a chihauhau... choas sort of describes things.  I must shop for some dog panels and make one for my gdaughter (4).

If anyone is interested.. I found this fabric on "fabric.com" under a search for "pound hound panel cotton".  Currently on sale.  Also had companion fabrics to go with it.  Luscher, please forgive me for copying your adorable quilt, the devil has made me do it!  I just love it!

Cute quilt!

A my grand dog (a yorkie) is the boss of the house cause' as her mom says "she is so stinkin cute".  I can't imagine what life is going to be like when this kid finishes college and fines a place for her and Molly to live.  I'm so sorry you were treated that way by a breeder.

So so cute! I'm going to need to find this panel. So sorry the pups didn't work out. Dogs are a really great idea...but very challenging. If you do decide to try again with another dog, I recommend going for a mut. They are generally better in the health area and can be terribly cute. Also, having a few meet and greets first so you can see if their personality works for what you are looking for. Good luck and God Bless!

Thank you all for your lovely comments,  Softspiritwalker, the design setting was done by the "seat of the pants" technique.  I cut out the blocks, knew what I wanted to use for individual sashings, and then it was "OK" here we go.  It is ok if you copy it - I had to do some "math" calculating during the process.  Most designers don't do it that way.  I am now taking a class with QU on EQ7 and try my hand at designing....
