My Challenge Quilt for the 2011 Sauder Village Quilt Show; the challenge was to use Gerta fabrics, Flying Geese and Birds in the Air blocks to create a quilt between 24" x 24" and 36" x 36". The fabrics were not my favorite, but I think I made the best out of them. The set in seams were a challenge for me and a good learning experience.

Yes, you did make very good use of the fabric.  This is the second reference to "set in seams" here today.  Where exactly are those seams in this example?  The flying geese don't have set in seams, do they?  Is it in sewing in the bigger background pieces?

Thanks so much, everyone!

Nancy - the set in seams are the ones where the green background meets two of the spokes of flying geese. That seam where the three pieces meet was pretty challenging, but with good marking and slow sewing it only took me two tries.
