Door Update!

Here's the latest on my door quilt. I've been working on the brick area on either side of the door. The right side is before paint and shading and the left side is after. As you can see, I'm a big believer of letting the fabric do some of the work for you. Batiks are perfect for brick/stone/wood effects and just a bit of paint adds the shading.

WOW!!  Did you paint or sew the grout lines?  Can't wait to see the wooden door.

I am now working on the door handle and hinges. I'm wrapping batik around a 1 1/4" x 4 inch piece of timtex, painting it for shading, and will appliqué on later after the quilting is finished.

MNNancy...the grout lines are painted now but will be sewn later. I am going to trapunto the bricks and sew in between them to make them stand out a bit.
