first hand quilt piece

this is my first piece i am hand quilting.  it's just a cheaters, but it's going faster than i expected.  this is not a great photo of it.  but, it's still in progress.  it's the only project i brought with me to thailand to work on while i'm here, since i don't have a sewing machine here.  this is one that i plan to practice on and do a lot of quilting.  i love crazy quilts, so this is a good starter for me when it comes to hand sewing.  i won't be back in the states until october, so i have lots of time to do as much hand sewing as i want on this great piece of fabric.  it's just a wall hanging size, so i'll probably be done much quicker than i think.

Hand quilting is quilting! It is not running a machine but using your hands for artistry.

never thought i'd have the patience for hand quilting and told everyone that i didn't. but, i've been absolutely amazed at how fast this is going.  i'm starting to wish i'd have brought some more projects along with me from the states.  guess i'll have to get creative over here and go on the hunt for fabric.  so far cottons are hard to find.

marcy, this is great work. makes me want to examine it more closely, feel the fabrics and stitches with my hands.  i'm working on a fancy crazy lap quilt, my second effort.    the first became upholstery for an antique loveseat which my mother bought when i was in school.     your comments about not being able to find cottons is interesting.  keep trying . you might find some spectacular ones unexepectedly.
