I had 17 FQs that I couldn't decide how to use, so I cut them all into 3 inch strips. I cut the strips to random lengths (6 to 18 inches) and sewed them all together into one very long strip.  For the strip quilt I just cut 20 strips of this to the  lengths I wanted (about 60 inches) sewed them together, added a 3 inch black border, then the 5 inch boarder.  For the other I cut the long strip into 60, 13 inch lengths, sewed 3 together put a black 13 inch strip on each side then sewed the blocks together , 4x5  turning every other one. Again 3 inch  black border, and a 5 inch border. So 17 fat quarters, 3 yards black, 2 yards border fabric = 2 quilts, 1 aprox. 65x65, the other 66x 78.
