Like many quilters, I throw all my "leftover" fabric, charm squares etc into a box which "i will geet round to sorting out later". In 2010, this box fell out of the closet when I was looking for something else and landed on my foot. I left the pile on the floor for a few days hoping it would miraculously pack istelf back into the box and put itself away - false hope.
I decided to cull the fabric as I picked it up and cut usable squares, strips etc and threw out the raggy bits and pieces. I made this nine-patch quilt by putting 2 squares of each fabric into boxes and randomly picking out pieces to form twosies then threesies. I then joined the strips into 9 patches. Miraculously, I did not get two of the same squares next to eaxh other in a row but did get two of the same in a block - can't be helped. The quilt turned out quit nicely.
