First block of a massive project

I was gifted with a GORGEOUS, applique-intensive kit, called "Midnight Silhouette". The fabrics are all rich, lush autumn colours. But I do fear (since I'm a slowpoke) that this will be a 350-400-hour quilt before I'm done. But - hey - I'm retired, and love my time at the sewing machine!

this will be wonderful,  do you really count the hours you spend on a quilt?  i've never done that.

WEll, if this block is any indication, it looks like it will be a beautiful quilt.

Kathy,  By the looks of this first block and all the effort that you have put into it the project will turn out spectacular!  Those points look real nice!!

Gini - I do keep track of sewing time (casually), mainly because I'm habitually pokey, and want to up my game a bit. I jot times in a quilt journal, where I've glued some of the fabric swatches and design ideas. Just by observing how long one block takes can give me an idea of how much time the whole quilt might involve.
