In memory of her mother, my friend Beth wanted ideas about making a quilt that would use her mother's beautiful 46 inch crocheted medallion.  I sprayed adhesive to hold it in place, and used my longarm (very gently) to make this quilt for Beth.  I practiced first on a crocheted piece I had in my linens (the off-white on rust background).  I used different background fillers, and the effects were very different.  I enjoy making quilted items from old linens.

Beautiful piece.  We have had several people asking about how to make a quilt out of linens and doilies lately.

Very pretty!  I love to see heirloom pieces added to quilts.  My mom croched and I have lots of her doilies I've been wanting to add to a quilt.  Thanks for the inspiration.
