This quilt was raffled off to raise funds for ShelterBox, an international disaster relief agency. The quilt featured photos of children and adults from our 2010 Vacation Bible School; ShelterBox was their mission project. I wasn't sure what this quilt would look like when I made it. I just played around with the fabrics and this diagonal design idea. I added decorative stitched borders in different colors and patterns around the photos because I wasn't happy with the contrast between the photos and fabrics. The top left photo is crooked because only God makes things perfect. And my quilting friend Margaret says, "Can you see it from the back of a galloping horse?" The backing is a wavy sort of windowpane check in the bright colors with a narrow black line, bisected by a band of the colored rings on black fabric.
P.S. This photo was taken before the quilt was bound. The binding is the black fabric with the colored rings.
