I got frustrated trying to imagine what a specific stitch will actually look like on a project. So I made a Sampler. On black fabric backed with a stiffening, I sewed each stitch that is on my machine. Some I did with different settings so I could see what it would look with with a longer or wider stitch. With a Sharpie, I labeled each stitch with the corresponding ID number from my machine. I backed it with a bright fabric. Now it sits by my machine and I refer to it constantly to pick out the stitch I want to use. It rolls up small to carry with me.
