Kim's Wholecloth Challenge
Ever since I started hand quilting in the 1990s, I wanted to make a whole cloth quilt. It was a daunting challenge since the result would depend on my hand quilting ability.
At the 2009 NC Quilt Symposium, I took a Trapunto and stippling class from John Flynn. His Trapunto technique and tools gave me the courage to begin designing my whole cloth quilt. I saw a mustard yellow wall hanging in a magazine and I decided to make a reversible quilt with mustard yellow on one side and green on the other.
I used some printed quilt patterns that I ordered and designed the pattern It took me 150 hours to hand quilt.
Made in 2010.
Won 2nd place in the Pinehurst, NC quilt show.
