Angel Kitty - Thread Painting, Wall Hanging

Quilted wall hanging using the technique of thread painting.  This is my older cat, Angel.  I used Angelina fiber for the highlights in her eyes.  I embroidered her white whiskers at her nose, to make them stand out against her white fur.   I put a little mouse in the grass beneath her.   This is my first art quilt.

This looks fantastic! Great job on your first art quilt! I think you are on to something here. Since you did such a nice job on your first I think you should keep going and try another one. You're on a roll, stick with it!

very nice 1st art quilt, thread painting can be tricky but once learned opens up all kinds of new avenues. Fantasic Job, love it!!!

Thanks to all of you for your compliments and encouraging comments!  I'm new at this and I feel good that I was able to create this project!  Leslie, to answer your question, to make her fur look real, I turned the picture into applique pieces that I fused down.  Then I did the thread painting over it, which sealed the deal to make the fur look real.  I learned this process from Melinda Bula at a Quiltfest, and she has a website if anybody wants to check it out:   http://www.melindabula.com.   She does beautiful work with this technique!
